It’s almost that time of year again when everyone goes mad for summer pop ups. It’s early days yet, but we’ve found a few pop ups in London standing out from the crowd – we’re sure there’ll be hundreds more by mid-May!
A beautiful Italian-style restaurant will be occupying Selfridges’ rooftop. In previous years Des McDonald Restaurants have taken the helm, but this year, restaurant chain San Carlo is bucking the trend and taking over the space. It’s not just a posh lunch spot either, you can head here whatever time of day but we’d definitely recommend the Sicilian roasted shellfish sharer (king prawns, scallops, mussels, clams and langoustines – NOM!).
The Gardening Society and Summer of Sound
A little further along Oxford Street and you’ll find the John Lewis summer pop up. This spot is decked out with all things green so feels like a lovely oasis away from the hubbub of shopping. 2018 sees a large music theme running throughout the summer, starting on 5th May. You can expect to hear from DJs, live music and show. They’ll be partnering up with speaker pros Sonos, so you know sound quality is going to be on point.
Back again after last year’s roaring success, Neverland re-opens on 3rd May. Packed to the rafters with bars, live DJs, putting, shuffleboard, yoga, bottomless brunches, cocktail classes and sand sculpting. If you didn’t venture down to Fulham last year, it’s a must for this summer. Even if it’s just for the prosecco pong!
Jimmy’s BBQ Club
Jimmy Garcia is back again at Southbank. There will be a six-course tasting menu from the rooftop bar, which sounds immense especially as everything is cooked on a Big Green Egg – scallops, lamb cutlets, Sicilian anchovies and you can finish it all off with marshmallow s’mores. If that’s not what you’re after, there’s also a BBQ and drink bar you can just pop along to without a lengthy menu to commit to. Opens Saturday 5th May – are you ready? We are!
Every Sunday in July will see a traffic-free zone around Regents Street. Giving a true festival-feel to the area, Summer Streets will offer live music, workshops, street food and entertainment. Local retailers, restaurants and businesses will be working together to make something special.
From 3rd May, Roof East will be bringing the circus home with bell tents, jugglers and circus-themed cocktails. There’s also crazy golf, bowls, batting cages and an outdoor cinema. Something for everyone! Food comes in the form of seaside classics like fish and chips and surf and turf. As always it’s free entry, so you can rock up, admire the view and watch the circus craze around you.
